University of Gloucestershire Graduates' Simon the Ogre campaign wins award at Cannes
August 21, 2014
A new advertising campaign by Christopher Keatinge and Daniel Bennet, who graduated from the University of Gloucestershire and now work at the well-known London agency BMB, has just won a Silver Lion for Film at Cannes.
The dynamic duo, both of whom graduated from the University of Gloucestershire with First Class BA (Hons) in Advertising, were the creative inspiration behind Thompson’s new campaign ‘Simon the Ogre’.
The award winning advert, directed by globally acclaimed director Fredrick Bond, shows the main character Simon as a downtrodden Ogre, thanks to his long hours in the office, tedious work and missing out on spending time with his family.
Thanks to the fun and relaxation of his holiday, Simon is then gradually restored back to his former self and the advert ends with the family walking down the beach in to the sunset.
The #MeAgain appears at the end of the advert and the campaign also has a dedicated microsite where people can take a ‘holiday test’ to see how much they need to take a break.
Frank Holmes, Course Leader for Advertising at the University of Gloucestershire, said: “I’m just thrilled that so many of our graduates are doing so well! Christopher and Dan are hugely talented people, and won a number of awards while they were here at the University of Gloucestershire. Now they’re creating headlines in the professional world – great stuff!”
